Frequently Asked Questions

Meraki home organization’s frequently asked questions

What do professional organizers really do?

Professional organizers use their expertise, creativity, and problem solving skills to guide you through the process of sorting and decluttering your home. We help you identify the best uses for your spaces and create a plan and process to help you achieve your goals. Our ultimate goal is to make your life better by making the most of your space. Organization can be the key to streamlining your daily life, and an organizer can create and guide you through this process from start to finish.

how long will it take me to get organized?

The organizing process is different for each individual. The time it takes to get a space organized depends on many factors like how long it takes you to make decisions on what to keep or discard, the size of the space, and the number of items you own. The purchased package hours do not expire and are meant to be spread out over multiple sessions.

Am I going to have to get rid of most of my things?

This is the most frequent worry my clients express. We will edit the things in your space, assessing what’s needed and what’s not. This is one of the most important parts of the organizing and decluttering process. I want each space in your home to serve you to the best of its ability. The process does involve removing and relocating some items to streamline your daily life. You will never be forced to get rid of anything. I am simply here to help guide and support you in the decision making process.

What happens to all the stuff I get rid of?

I take an eco-friendly approach to organizing. I do my best to help you recycle and donate items that may be removed from the space we are working in to keep them out of the landfill. Click on the recycling symbol for a link to local donation/recycling options.

Am I going to have to buy a bunch of new organizing products?

We start with what you have around the house! If you like, we can solely use what you have at your home. After a short time, if you are happy with the placement of items, we can create a personalized list of new products for purchase. Clients are responsible for the payment of all agreed-upon organizational supplies. You can do the shopping or I am happy to shop for you and have the items delivered.

Do you only work in Apex, North Carolina?

I work in Apex and surrounding cities in the Triangle area. For locations outside of the local Raleigh area (approx. 60 miles round trip), there could be a small fee added to your package.

Can my children be around while we organize?

I adore little ones, but unfortunately focusing on the task at hand can be difficult when your attention is in multiple places. For all organizing sessions I request that children are attended to by a sitter. You are paying for precious time with a professional organizer and to get the most out of each session, your full attention is needed. If we are working in a child’s area like a bedroom, playroom, work zone or kitchen, I would love to teach them how the area works when it is complete!

What are your Covid 19 Protocols?

I am fully vaccinated (two doses and a booster). I will wear a mask while in your home. I also have a Covid-19 Agreement & Certification that is required to be filled out 24 hours before each in person session. Click on the medical bag to view my Covid-19 agreement.

I am embarrassed about my mess. Should I do anything before you come?

  • Please do not tidy up. For us to achieve the success you are looking for, I need to see your space in its daily form to assess how you are currently functioning in it. I will NEVER judge, so please do not feel the need to hide anything. My goal is to find the solutions and systems that work best for you, and to see your space in its raw form works best for this process.
  • It’s  helpful to collect empty boxes, baskets or storage containers that you already have in your home, so that we may use them easily during our sessions.
  • Ensure safe  working conditions.
